The legend of Meerendal's wine and bread
began in 1702 in a vast and fertile landscape on the slopes of the Tygerberg Hills.

More than 300 years later the mystery lives on through families and friends, who visit its grounds and join in the spirit of relaxed lunches, superb dining and celebratory events.

We have a variety of venues
perfectly suited for every occasion including:

- The Barn & Lawn - all
   purpose venue

- The Loft for conferences - half
  and full day packages available

- Our quaint candle-lit chapel for
  your perfect wedding.

At the time of the new owner taking over, a strategy was formulated to implement Food and Wine on the Estate as its main focus, hence the slogan  -
“The Home of Food and Wine”.

The Meerendal wines are elegant fruit driven wines ideally suited for matching the excellent cuisine that you can expect at the farm.

The Meerendal brand first appeared on the market with the launch of the 1969 Pinotage and Shiraz wines more than 40 years ago. Meerendal has eight delightful wines in the Standard Range and six very special wines in it’s Prestige Collection.

The various labels have been developed to portray the classic qualities of this 300 year old estate, and introduced in 2004.

The Meerendal Manor House and well known landmark on the wine estate will be converted to a six room luxury guest house over the next few weeks.

The Meerendal restaurant that has been operating from here over the past two years will be relocated to the building where the Cellar Door sales and Deli is situated. The beautiful wooden deck with its stunning views over the vineyards will be upgrade and fully enclosed with big glass windows.

The restaurant will be closed until 8 February 2012 while the refurbishing takes place, but the Deli will serve light meals during the day. We apologise for any inconvenience to our customers during this period.

Another International group of musicians have being enjoying the hospitality of Meerendal during their tour of South Africa during the week third week of Dec 2011.

Like Smokey earlier in the year, Meerendal is working together with Lefra Productions to provide the wines for the luncheons and official functions on the Boney M Christmas Special World Tour from 15 to 20 December. The group visited Meerendal on Monday 19 December for a special tour of the cellar with a wine tasting and a gourmet dinner in the Manor House restaurant.

Only traditional South African ingredients like fresh Franchhoek Salmon Trout and Karoo leg of lamb were used to serve the Boney M group a five star meal. Liz Mitchell and her touring party raved about the food and the Meerendal Wines, that included 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon
served from magnums.

The farmers food market that we introduced last year has proved to be very popular. It takes place on the second Saturday of each month and provides lots of things to buy
