Meerendal’s standard range boasts seven cultivar wines and a blended red wine and a new label was developed to portray the classic qualities and rich heritage of this 300-year-old estate.
The standard range consists of Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinotage Rose, Shiraz, Pinotage, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot.

Sauvignon Blanc
The wine has tropical aromas and whiffs of green pepper and
fynbos, with a flintiness and an attractive minerality, complemented by some gooseberry tones.
It shows a refreshing and crisp after taste, with a delicious and rich mouth feel. |

Chardonnay
Lovely straw yellow colour. The wine shows a beautiful balance between pineapple and citrus flavours with a sweetish entry and dried peaches on the aftertaste .
A lingering full bodied wine with delicate wood nuances. |

Chenin Blanc
The wine has a light straw colour with soft tropical fruit flavours of pear, peach and melon.
The gentle oaking has led to a beautiful balance between the fruit and the oak on the palate and a rich creamy aftertaste. |

Cabernet Sauvignon
Deep ruby red color. Intense plum and black currant flavours on the nose.
Good tannin structure support this rich fruit driven wine with its long aftertaste. The wine has excellent maturation potential. |

Merlot
The wine has a deep crimson color and shows rich concentrated flavours of dark chocolate, cherries and almonds.
Beautiful silky and soft tannins combine with the rich ripe fruit flavours ending in a wine with great balance and elegance. It has the potential to mature for 5 – 8 years. |

Pinotage
The wine has a deep dark ruby colour with sweet fruit and some spice and dark chocolate on the nose.
It displays juicy red and black berry flavours on the palate with soft tannins. It has a classic dry elegant finish. |

Shiraz
Deep dark red colour. Violets and black currents burst on to the nose. The palate shows additional flavours of black pepper with a hint of smokiness.
Full bodied with soft round tannins. Excellent ageing potential. |

Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot blend
Lovely ruby red colour. The wine has delicious sweet cassis fruit flavours on the nose, with dark
fruit cake nuances and a hint of spice.
Rich fruit flavours with well balanced oak and tannin rounds the wine off on the palate. It is already soft and very
drinkable with good potential to mature. |

Rosé
The wine has a brilliant light salmon pink colour. Fresh sweet strawberries and cream, with Turkish delight and candy floss flavours emerge from the glass.
These excellent flavours continue on the
palate and the perfect sugar and acid balance leave a soft and lingering fruity aftertaste.
The wine is dry but the intense fruit flavours make this a great drinking as well as
food wine.
