The range of Meerendal Prestige Wines was launched on the estate’s 305th anniversary (6 February 2007): Bin 242 Sauvignon Blanc (Barrel fermented), Bin 159 Shiraz and The Heritage Block Pinotage – a wine made from 50 year old bush vines! Since then a Chenin Blanc Natural Sweet wine and very recently a MCC Blanc de Blanc and a Merlot Reserve was added to the range.

New labels have been developed to take the flagship wines into the future - two in the Meerendal "M" signature range have been allocated Bin numbers and tie in with the history of Meerendal and the Pinotage has been bottled under the Meerendal Heritage label. The newly added MCC and Merlot Reserve also boasts unique new labels.

  The Heritage Block Pinotage

Very deep, almost opaque purple colour with  a bluish tinge. Spicy red and black fruit aromas supported by strong bramble type characters on initial nose.

Prune, plum and ripe dark cherry follow with a backing of rich fruit cake, spice and sweet vanilla.  Big, full well rounded mouth with satin smooth flow across the palate yet distinct but supple tannin undertone.

Beautifully integrated oak. Great balance  with classy elegance.

  Chenin Blanc Natural Sweet

The wine has a brilliant straw yellow colour. The nose and palate has an abundance of tropical and citrus flavours, with rich hints of honey, marmalade, dried fruit and spices.

Perfect harmony between acid and sugar to leave a wonderful rich flavour on the aftertaste.

  Bin 159 Shiraz

Opaque with black to purple rim.   Nose lifts off with freshly cracked black pepper followed by  black berries, ripe morello cherry with hints of dark chocolate and spice.

Rich and deep in the mouth with ever developing flavours of what the nose promised along with damson and some savoury notes. Beautifully balanced and fine texture.

Fine, ripe tannins that are already very ameanable and allow for early drinking,  but enough there to ensure great aging ability.

  Bin 242 Sauvignon Blanc
(Barrel fermented)

Clear bright, green to yellow colour. Bouquet begins with inviting floral  notes followed by fragrance of tropical fruit salad. Pineapple, litchi, kiwi with just a hint of spice with vanilla.

Ripe, yet fresh  flavours fill the mouth and complement the  fresh liveliness of the wine.

Incredibly rich on the palate, with a hint of sweetness from the oak enriching the mouth feel and smoothness.

Merlot Reserve

The wine has a deep dark red color and shows concentrated flavours of black fruit, dark chocolate, almonds and a touch of spice.

Rich, silky tannins on the palate combine with the  ripe fruit flavours ending in a juicy wine with great balance and elegance.

It has the potential to mature for 6 – 8 years.

  MCC Blanc de Blanc

Lots of beautiful, tiny beads in the glass, fresh peaches with creamy, biscuity aromas  on the nose. Lots of mousse as the wine enters your mouth.

Layers of delightful white fruit flavours with a touch of yeastiness and crisp minerality develop on the palate.

An elegant wine, fresh and beautifully rounded,  displaying all the characteristics of a truly blanc de blanc style.
