2015 Absa Cape Epic at Meerendal Wine Estate
We are excited to announce that the cream of the crop of local and international mountain bike riders will be welcomed at Meerendal Wine Estate for the Grand Finale of the 2015 Absa Cape Epic on 22 March 2015.
Season of Sauvignon Festival
|Meerendal will offer a great variety of activities during the popular weekend of Season of Sauvignon in the Durbanville Valley. The focus will be on wine, food and entertainment. Entry is free on both days.
Crown restaurant will be offering a special three course meal that will complement the Meerendal Sauvignon Blancs perfectly. This menu will also be available for lunch and dinner during the week leading up to the weekend of 25 and 26 Oct.
The chef at Crown restaurant has created these fine meals for your enjoyment:
For starters - Butter poached fresh Asparagus with soft herbs – R35.00
Main course - Chicken Roulade stuffed with Wild Mushrooms and Red Spinach and wrapped in streaky Bacon, served with sweet potato mash and rocket cream – R85.00
Dessert - Sauvignon Blanc sorbet with a tropical fruit coulis – R40.00
Two vintages of Meerendal Sauvignon Blanc will complement the meal. There will be live entertainment over the weekend at the restaurant too.
The very popular tutored Sauvignon Blanc tastings presented by the wine team from Meerendal - Cellar master Liza Goodwin and wine guru Bennie Howard – will be held on Saturday at 10:00; 11:30 and 13:00. Meerendal Sauvignon Blancs from a number of vintages and some overseas wines will be tasted including a Sancerre and Chilean Sauvignon Blanc. The unique Durbanville Valley Sauvignon Blanc,
The Durbanville Twelve Sauvignon Blanc 2014, made from one ton of grapes from each of the 12 members in the valley, will be available for tasting and sales as well over the weekend.
Meerendal’s Farmers Market will also form part of the activities on Saturday 25 October. The big variety of stalls has become a benchmark for markets of this kind in the wine lands.
There will be entertainment for kids as well that will make it a worthwhile trip for families to the Season of Sauvignon at Meerendal.
